Design, Integration, Analysis~
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide technical leadership necessary to support the Distributed Data Backup & Restoration (DDBR) delivery systems and components. Apply knowledge of UNIX and Wintel hardware, operating systems and software to analyze, evaluate, design, build, test/certify and prepare delivery systems, subsystems and components for integration and deployment into production. Interface with suppliers to provide delivery systems direction, requirements, products and services. Provide leadership for identifying and resolving complex problems, and organizing complex technical activities. Analyze and provide direction on computing resource priorities. Some backup tape cassette handling functions might be necessary; other duties, as assigned.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
Highly experienced with data backup/recovery in a distributed environment and data storage subsystems such as tape, NAS and SAN. Knowledgeable of distributed operating systems and infrastructures; databases and query languages; networks; distributed hardware/equipment; client/server software applications and utilities; data center management procedures. Knowledge and familiarity with Solaris is desirable. A working knowledge of the Symantec NetBackup application is required. Ability to use standard applicable, computing disciplines (e.g., change configuration; problem, performance and operational management; etc.) to ensure company computing systems requirements are met in a cost-effective manner that complies with company standards, policies and procedures.
